Meet The Sunhouse Singers
The Sunhouse Singers are a vocal trio who began making their mark on the New York jazz scene after moving to Harlem together in the summer of 2023. Featuring New York-based jazz vocalists Kate Kortum, June Cavlan, and Joie Bianco, the trio shared the stage with artists such as Charlie Rosen and Bryan Carter, Emmet Cohen, and Benny Benack III. Their original arrangements reflect the influence of inspiring writers and singers such as Jon Hendricks, The Andrews Sisters, Gene Puerling, and Cécile McLorin Salvant. The three met at the University of Miami, where they began singing together as undergraduates and have been refining their group sound since forming close bonds in 2019. Each brings unique experiences and recognitions to the group, including DownBeat and YoungArts awards, scholarships, and grants The Sunhouse Singers have been grateful to perform at renowned venues such as Birdland, Mezzrow, The Django, and Dizzy’s, and are looking forward to recording their debut album in 2025. Though still new to the New York jazz scene, they are building a name for themselves, with their most recent holiday guest appearances alongside artists like Martina DaSilva and April Varner ft. Emmet Cohen, Yasushi Nakamura and Ulysses Owens Jr.
